Craig is the county seat of Moffat County and serves as a regional center for northwest Colorado. The community was incorporated in 1908 and was named for Reverend William Bayard Craig, one of the town’s early financial backers. Today, Craig is home to approximately 9,000 residents and offers a mix of local businesses, schools, healthcare, parks, cultural attractions, and outdoor recreation.

The Yampa River runs through the community and provides opportunities for fishing, boating, wildlife viewing, and other outdoor activities. The surrounding region features expansive public lands, mountain scenery, canyons, and access to some of northwest Colorado’s most distinctive natural areas.
