Aspen — Leaf Peeping in Ashcroft & Castle Creek Valley
Starting in September, the aspen trees transform the landscape with their brilliant yellow. Go leaf peeping in Aspen at the Ashcroft ghost town in the Castle Creek Valley. The cooler weather means it’s root vegetable season. Celebrate the humble potato at Carbondale Potato Day on October 1. Watch the Potato Parade on Main Street, and then, dig into baked potatoes loaded with all of your favorite fixings!
Glenwood Springs — Rally the Valley
Rally the Valley is a fundraiser for the Calaway Young Cancer Center at Valley View Hospital. On September 24, you can “rally” by going on a 25 mile bike ride, a 4 mile walk, or a 1.5 mile family walk called Peyton’s Parade. After getting some fresh air and exercise for a good cause, celebrate the day at the Rally Party at Sayre Park. There will be food, beer garden, and kids’ activities.
