If he had been in the Roaring Fork Valley he might have mentioned one of these fun summer events—where you’ll be sure to hear a song you recognize, see a painting that stirs your soul or enjoy the best fish taco of your life.

Here are highlights of one cherished event from each town in the Roaring Fork Valley.

Aspen
Aspen Ideas Festival — June 23 to July 2, 2016
Since 2005, the Aspen Ideas Festival has hosted some of the world’s preeminent thinkers to engage in issues of the day. Join in the conversation on politics, religion, science, the humanities, and the arts to absorb pivotal film moments, transformational discussions and spirited innovation at the Aspen Music Tent Grounds, Aspen Meadows Campus and in downtown Aspen.

Snowmass
Wanderlust Festival — June 30 to July 3, 2016
When it’s time to get away from it all, come to Snowmass to unwind, relax and enjoy one of the sweetest festivals in the Rocky Mountains. Summer Concert Series — 2016 Dates TBD
This wonderful concert series is the epitome of summer in the mountains. With a variety of energizing bands, residents and visitors flop down on blankets, then kick off their sandals and “dance like no one is watching”. Accompanied by tasty eats and heavenly libations, there’s no better was to celebrate summer and soak in the evening alpen glow lighting up the valley walls.

Carbondale
Annual Mountain Fair — July 29-31, 2016
To truly enjoy the summer mountain lifestyle, come to Carbondale’s 46th Annual Mountain Fair. There’s non-stop entertainment with live music and performing arts, wood chopping contests, The Oasis–an interactive experience area for kids, food galore and 145 vendors with homemade wares. For a fun and lively Roaring Fork Valley celebration, the Mountain Fair has it all.

Glenwood Springs
Strawberry Days — June 17-19, 2016
Nothing says summer like the festival of a local fruit. Strawberry Days features live music, a parade down main street, a FamilyFest area and an old fashioned carnival. It goes without saying that fresh, juicy strawberries with be served up with ice cream, for free, after the parade.

Redstone
Magical Moments Concert Series — 2016 Dates TBD
Redstone pulls out all the stops with free concerts in the beautiful Redstone Park during select Saturdays in the summer. Motown, soul, rock, bluegrass, country and slack key are some of the musical styles performed by a variety of bands. This festival truly embodies its motto of “Peace, Love and Music”.

Marble
Marble Fest — 2016 Date TBD
Arts and free acoustic music blend for an incredible two days of fun in the natural amphitheater of Marble Mill Site Park. Bluegrass and country bands fill the lineup while local vendors provide delicious food, crafts, art and a Frisbee golf course. Enjoy the natural splendor of the rural Crystal River Valley, while supporting local artists.

New Castle
Burning Mountain Festival — September 9-10, 2016
For a toast to summer, it doesn’t get much better than the homegrown Burning Mountain Festival. A tradition since 1973, the festival celebrates the mining history of the town and is named for the iconic mountain where coal seams still burn. A parade, live music, crafts, food vendors, a kid’s carnival and classic car show are just some of the entertaining activities at Burning Mountain Park.

The Scorpions Tribute Concert & Fireworks — July 29, 2016
Great music, delicious food and amazing fireworks define this night at the Stoney Ridge Pavilion. Put on your dancing shoes and bring your appetite for a good old fashioned time.
