With a population of 9,172, Rifle offers big city amenities while maintaining a small town quality of life.

Events

The Ute Theater – This historic theater was brought back to life by the City of Rifle in 2014 and is now a hub of activity with concerts, plays, films, community celebrations, performances and wedding receptions. Some of the recent artists have included Bruce Coburn, Jimmy Ibbotson, Tab Benoit and John McEuen.

Garfield County Fair – Held in early August, this captivating week of rodeo competitions, music and festivities is not to be missed. FFA and 4-H kids proudly display their efforts in crafts, cooking and raising animals by day, while brave professionals compete in “Xtreme Bulls” by night. Come and see talented cowboys and cowgirls from western Colorado exhibit their amazing skills in the premier rodeo competitions.

Hometown Holiday Celebration – During the first weekend of December, the City of Rifle kicks off the holiday season with colorful decorations, window display contests, business open houses, choral performances, a tree lighting ceremony and bonfire. The community gathers together to reflect and celebrate a great way of life, whether that means raising a family, climbing in the Bookcliffs or simply enjoying retirement.

It’s no surprise that Rifle offers up some of the best dining in the area. Options run the gamut from the hearty Miner’s Claim Restaurant and Rib City Grill to the delightful Lilly’s Kitchen and Whistle Pig Coffee Stop. If steak is your favorite, try Jay’s Steakhouse, Sammy’s Rocky Mountain Steakhouse or the Farm Fresh Café.
