Nestled in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains, Aspen is located in central western Colorado. Glenwood Springs is northwest of Aspen, along Highway 82, and the same highway approaches town from the south via Independence Pass (summer only).
This narrow valley town is surrounded by nature’s magnificence with hiking trails, 90 km of free cross country tracks, lakes, the Roaring Fork River, bike routes and 4 world class ski mountains.
The population of 6,658, increases significantly over the winter holidays, but most of the year, the town is casual, relaxed and full of fun.
Aspen abounds with events throughout the year; here are some of the more prominent ones.
Aspen Music Festival – For over 50 years, high-achieving students and faculty have been coming to Aspen to learn, teach, and perform in the beautiful Aspen environment. During the summer, multiple concerts fill the air daily with classical music and in the winter Harris Hall hosts a pared down schedule.
X Games Aspen – In late January the international spotlight focuses on Aspen as young athletes compete in SnoCross, Super Pipe, Slopestyle, Freestyle and Adaptive X. The Olympic Champions and World Title Holders put on a gravity-defying show over 4 days of concerts and exhilarating events.
Food & Wine Classic – Mid-June brings wine aficionados and foodies to Aspen to partake in prestigious epicurean festivities. Celebrity chefs demonstrate their techniques from around the globe, while noted wine authorities inspire audiences with stories and thoughts of the grape.
